Reviews on Saint Club

Amsterdam, as a cosmopolitan city, has a great number of ethnic restaurants, including Semhar which we recommend as it offers excellent Ethiopian cuisine at affordable prices. It is only open in the evenings from 16.00 to 22.00.

At Semhar the protagonist is the Injera, a spongy unleavened bread on which you serve all the dishes. Excellent sambusa as an appetizer, fried pasta dumplings stuffed with meat or vegetables and fresh chilli.

Taste a wot, a typical Ethiopian stew meat (lamb, chicken, beef) and vegetables (lentils, peas, mixed vegetables).

If you are a guest at Semhar, don't miss a good and intensive Ethiopian coffee, probably not everyone knows that the tradition of coffee was born in this land. The practice of making a brew from roasted beans was introduced only in the thirteenth century and since then it is spread throughout the world.

The coffee is very popular in Ethiopia and its preparation follows a precise and elaborate ceremonial full of charm, and is served in small cups without handles.

Semhar a must to try!
