Cassero is to date the most innovative and important club of the Italian gay and lesbian scene. One of the biggest clubs in the city, is home to internationally renowned DJs of electronic music / house / commercial and welcomes all types of customers. During the day there are cultural activities,at night offers bar and music, in summer a garden where you can dance until late.

The history of the Cassero dates back to June 28, when the Circle of homosexual culture occupied it, rooted in the disputes of 1977 in Bologna, with the founding of the "Collettivo frocialista". In 1982 the Collective obtains from the municipal office the area of Cassero of Porta Saragozza: it's the first step in a long process that led to make itself as a really prominent place in the fight against discrimination of homosexuals.

Today Cassero is located in the new, unusual and charming, home of Salara: a kind of old country house adapted to the disco. Promotes various cultural events and films (International Festival of Gay cinema and Lesbian Film Festival, Blowing bubbles, international competition for video on copyright issues related to HIV / AIDS, Gender Bender). In addition, annually elects Miss Alternative and Miss Lesbo and organizes the Gay Pride parade in Bologna.

Considered, rightly, one of the most picturesque in Italy, well worth a visit. Don't have be gay or lesbian to spend a night at the Cassero. The club hosts in fact the more diverse clientele.
