The Manneken Pis, also known as the French Petit Julien, is the most famous monument of the city of Brussels. It is a small bronze statue (about two feet high) that depicts a child of two years in an act of ..... fulfill his needs in the basin of a fountain!

Many legends are told about the cause of its creation, dated 1618: the most reliable tells of a child who, thanks to his gesture, managed to put out a fire that threatened the king's castle; or the same child who, during a Belgian battle between cities, urinating on the troops of the lord of Grimbergen led to victory the army of the Duke of Leuven, who wanted to celebrate the baby with a monument in his honor.

Whatever its origin, the statue has become the undisputed symbol of the spirit of the irreverent Belgians, demonstrated by the fact that often, during occasions and celebrations of various kinds, it is disguised in the more extravagant costumes , a wrestler or Santa Claus. The Museum of the City of Brussels keeps the entire collection of costumes of the Manneken Pis, which has more than 800 costumes.
