The Upper West Side is a neighborhood in Buffalo surrounded to the north by the Scajaquada Expressway and the Buffalo State College campus, east of Richmond Avenue and west of the trendy Elmwood Village.
The main streets are Lafayette Avenue Upper West Side, West Ferry Street, Richmond Avenue, Grant Street and Niagara Street. Take a stroll to Colonial Circle, an intersection of Lafayette and Richmond, including the Parkway System. Upper West Side is always associated with an area for immigrants: Italians during the 20's, and now the Somalis, Sudanese, East European, Mexican, Puerto Rican and South Asia. The Grant-Ferry Commercial District, which was once the busiest commercial district throughout Buffalo, is the heart of this neighborhood.
