Generalife literally means "garden of the architect. " This garden is in fact a real architectural composition of paths, patios, ponds, hedges, trees, fountains with water and beautiful blooms.

Within the park is what was the summer residence of the Muslim governments with the beautiful Patio de la Acequia, famous for its long courtyard pool surrounded by flower beds and fountains of water. Adjacent to the patio is the Jardin de la Sultana with its symbol: trunk of cypress 700 years old.
