The
Jean Talon market is the most ethnical in Montreal, a special place and meeting place of many different farmers of Quebec. It offers a wide variety of fresh and exotic food, but the atmosphere is themain attraction: here the traders have a situation of competition and healthy family environment.
In 1931 in response to the economic crisis that was affecting the U.S., the city decided to invest in roads and buildings. From investments in the territory of those crucial years, comes this market, which is still one of the few examples of open-air market in the European style throughout North America.
Other interesting markets are at 2001 Rue Sauvé Ouest(Lebanese market, oriental spices, cheese, meat dishes andLebanese) and 138 Avenue Atwater (marché Atwater, the largestof the city).
