Late spring. Crowds of happy students will gather on the steps of San Lorenzo, the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Perugia. Square 4 Novembre is the hub of city life.

Students, workers, and foreigners of Perugia stroll along the Corso Vannucci and stop on the steps of the cathedral. It 'a ritual.

The cathedral of San Lorenzo is an impressive building that turns on the main square to the side, while the façade opens onto Piazza Danti.

Construction began in 1345 and completed in around 1490 on a pre-existing building, built around a thousand.

On the side turns on Piazza 4 November there is the Loggia di Braccio, the base of a Roman wall and the pink and white marble decoration was never completed.

Under the four arches is the stone of justice, a plaque recalls how in 1264, all debts were canceled by the city.

In addition to Renaissance paintings is to see the inlaid wooden choir stalls by Giuliano Maiano and Domenico Tasso. The most important work of the cathedral is the Deposition from the Cross by Federico Barocci painted between 1567 and 1569.

This painting belongs to the early work by Barocci but already anticipates the forms of European Mannerism.
